How we made sure the 2012 National Awards were truly powered by young volunteers

Young people at vInpired National Awards 2012

vInspired aims to give young people opportunities to do good things, and volunteer in ways that matter to them. For last night’s vInspired National Awards ceremony we recruited 10 young volunteers who did just that – and helped us make it a truly amazing night.

We received a huge response from people wanting to volunteer at the awards, and it was a really difficult task whittling down over 90 applicants to just 10 lucky volunteers.

But, with the help of our Youth Advisory Board I managed to select 10 volunteers to help us in everything from backstage running, to photography and DJing.

The volunteers brought with them a wealth of skills and experience; from working on EastEnders to DJ’ing around Europe. However the one thing they share in common is their passion for volunteering.

Some have volunteered from a very young age, for others it will be the first time they have volunteered – but all of them made it a night to remember.

With youth unemployment still so high, volunteering at the National Awards was not only an exciting experience for the volunteers – but it adds an extra sparkle to their CVs too.

vInspired puts young people at the heart of everything they do – and last night’s National Awards demonstrated this in action to all the guests.

Well done and congratulations to this great team of enthusiastic, talented and hardworking young people who helped us make sure the achievements of some of the most inspirational volunteers in the country were recognised and celebrated.
