There are a few things coming up in the world of Youth engagement, which we at v are celebrating and using these opportunities to continue our work with and champion young people playing positive roles in society.

This week 31st Oct – 7th Nov is, National Youth Work Week 2011: Click here for more info one of the main aims of youth work week is to highlight the contribution of youth work and young people to developing and maintaining strong communities.

And next week…

11th November, is the Children’s Commissioners ‘Takeover day 2011’: Click here for more info … Takeover Day gives children and young people the chance to work with adults for the day and be involved in decision-making. Children benefit from the opportunity to experience the world of work and make their voices heard, while adults and organisations gain a fresh perspective on what they do.

v has a Youth Advisory Board (YAB) meeting on Monday 7th where the YAB will be down in London at the v office and involved in steering our work and playing an active part in decisions here at v.

We are dedicated to involving the YAB and have a good track record of involving young people in decision making on a daily-basis on an operational level, I would love for you to read more about our work with the YAB by taking a look at our YAB page.

Also as an added bonus to the meeting on the 7th all v staff will be joining the YAB here at v for a spot of lunch, and the amazing opportunity for staff to meet the young people, talk to them about their work and be inspired by their energy.

Involving young people in the work of the organisation is always a pleasure and immensely rewarding. Youth involvement is a great idea because it gives young people the opportunity to influence and advise your organisations work, and ensure that it remains relevant and responsive to young people’s needs.
